Project management apps that will save you time (and stress!)

By SME Institute

As a small business owner, it’s easy to get bogged down in the day-to-day details of running your business. Between managing employees, keeping up with customers, and ensuring that your products or services are up to par, it’s no wonder that so many business owners feel overwhelmed.

One way to combat this feeling of being constantly bogged down is to use project management apps. Project management apps can help you stay organized and on track by giving you a bird’s eye view of all the moving parts of your business. There are a ton of different project management apps out there, so we’ve compiled a list of our favorites to get you started.

Trello

Trello is a great project management app for small businesses because it’s simple to use and extremely versatile. You can create different “boards” for each aspect of your business, and within each board, you can create various “lists”. For example, you could create a board for your marketing team and within that board, have lists for each marketing campaign that you’re working on. Trello is free to use for small teams, and there are paid plans available for larger teams.

Asana

Asana is another great option for small businesses looking for a project management app. Asana is similar to Trello in that it allows you to create different boards for each aspect of your business. However, Asana takes things a step further by allowing you to add subtasks, due dates, and attachments to each task. Asana also has a handy “calendar view” which can be helpful when trying to visualize deadlines and upcoming events. Asana offers a free plan for small teams and paid plans for larger teams.

Basecamp

Basecamp is yet another project management app that’s popular among small businesses. Basecamp allows you to create different “projects” and within each project, you can add tasks, files, discussions, and more. One of the great things about Basecamp is that it allows you to track the progress of each project so that you can see how far along you are at any given time. Basecamp offers a free 30-day trial and paid plans starting at $99/month.

Monday.com

Monday.com is another comprehensive project management tool that offers a variety of features to help businesses optimize their workflow. With Monday.com, you can create custom dashboards, visualize data with charts and graphs, automate repetitive tasks with “bots”, and much more.

Podio

Podio is a great option for businesses that need a little bit of everything when it comes to project management tools. With Podio, you can create custom workflows, track progress with real-time updates, collaborate with team members using video conferencing and chat features, and access valuable insights with built-in reporting tools.

Appointy

If you’re looking for a project management app that can do it all, look no further than Appointy. With Appointy, you can manage your projects, tasks, and timelines all in one place. Plus, Appointy integrates with your email and calendar so you can keep track of your projects and deadlines with ease.

There are myriad project management apps available on the market today, which can make it hard to choose the right one for your needs. However, by taking into consideration the size of your business, the complexity of your projects, and your budget, you should be able to narrow down the field and find an app (or two!) that will save you time (and stress!) in the long run.
